Monica Johnston, M.S. Ms. Johnston began peer tutoring at about 10 years old. She also volunteered to tutor her peers in the Math Lab at San Jose State. About the same time, she began work as a private tutor. She has more than 40 years of experience teaching math, statistics, and writing and has tutored more than a 500 students, mostly one-to-one. In the early 2000s, she developed A Tutor’s Perspective for tutors to share teaching strategies. Ms. Johnston holds a M.S. in Statistics from Stanford University and a B.A. in Math (Statistics) from San Jose State University.
