Monica Johnston, M.S., Head Tutor / Owner

Ms. Johnston began peer tutoring at age 10. While studying mathematics at San Jose State University (SJSU), she held several roles in education including SJSU Math Lab peer tutor, paraprofessional teacher (tutor) in public and private settings, and a statistical clerk summarizing educational statistics. Throughout her career as a professional statistician (data analytics), she has tutored math, statistics, marine biology, and writing and volunteered for Project Literacy. She has prepared students of various ages for standardized exams such as GED, CAHSEE, SAT/ACT, and entrance exams for boarding school, college math courses, pipefitters school, the police academy, and the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). She has tutored more than 500 students one-to-one and founded A Tutor’s Perspective, which is now on LinkedIn.

Ms. Johnston’s communication and teaching skills have led to coaching individual professionals at universities, real estate brokerages, and utility companies in speech, time management, space management, and balancing competing needs. In 2021, she began dedicating her spare time to developing remote internships for early-career professionals in Western Africa and unemployed people in the USA.

Ms. Johnston holds a M.S. in Statistics from Stanford University and B.A. in Mathematics (Statistics) from San Jose State University.
